In case you missed it, this past weekend was 420 Vancouver. Mom’s grilled Cheese Truck was there and let me tell you……there were some serious munchies going on! LOL. We sold out of almost everything on the tuck. It was an epic day. Makes you wonder about legalization, but that’s another topic. If you didn’t know, 420 is the world recognized international day of celebration for the planet’s estimated 250,000,000 members of the cannabis culture. There was live music by Kitty In The City, The Ponderosas and many more. An estimated 35,000 people turned out for the event, and about 20,000 of them chowed down grilled cheese! Pretty impressive event. If you are curious, feel free to reach out to Event Coordinator Jodie Emery at firstname.lastname@example.org. Dude, where’s my car?
If you didn’t know, this past week on April 12th was National Grilled Cheese Day! We’d like to thank Marke Driesschen the Weathercaster for CTV Morning Live and CTV News at Noon at CTV British Columbia team for stopping by and broadcasting live in Mom’s truck. Enjoy the video, with commercial
He’s naked, he breaks every health code violation imaginable and he uses vodka! It’s the Nearly Naked Cook, and as long as you don’t mind some cigarette ashes in your grilled cheese…….enjoy our video of the day.
Yes, it is Meatloaf Monday, a hearty slice of homemade meatloaf surrounded by melted mozzarella and marinara sauce on crusty French bread. This is probably Mom’s most famous grilled cheese and offers the best filler for your lunch time hunger on a cold and wet Monday. Business and school is back to normal today, so we look forward to seeing you for a nice warm lunch, some comfort food like Mom used to make..
Happy New Year! What a great day it is out there today, sunny, the snow capped mountains on the North Shore and Mom’s grilled Cheese Truck back on the streets for the first day of 2013. It’s a frosty morning and it will be a cold day today, so it is the perfect day to get yourself down to Mom’s for a hot grilled cheese sandwich, or maybe Mom’s now famous Roasted Tomato Soup topped with basil mascarpone…….or a piping hot large cup of Mom’s homemade chili topped with cheddar! Mmmmmmm, hot comfort foods on a cold January day, sounds like the ideal way to start your 2013 off perfectly. See you today for lunch.
If you have some extra left over food from the big holiday meal, you’ve likely just realized two things. One, using the term “holiday” is our effort to be politically correct, your left over’s may be from Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah or even Festivus (see video below). Two, you now see you have the ingredients for an epic grilled cheese sandwich!
Here is what we did at home on Boxing Day to create a one of a kind grilled cheese delight:
-Diced turkey (light and dark)
-Spread cranberry on one slice of sourdough
-Drizzle balsamic vinegar on the other slice of sourdough
-Butter both sides of the outside of the sourdough
-Grill it nice and slow
It was a truly incredible holiday grilled cheese sandwich!
Welcome to your day, a rare snow fall in our normally mild winter city. Grab your scarf, slip your boots on, guys get your galoshes out and brave the snow, sleet and freezing rain for some warm comfort food at Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck today. The chili will be nice and hot, warm tomato soup is ready and we’ll have all your favorite grilled cheese sandwiches as usual. By noon the forecast is back to our good old winter rain. See you for lunch today
Also, we came across a great website called The Grilled Cheese Academy, a site full of great grilled cheese recipes and cheese listings funded by Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and Eat Wisconsin Cheese. That’s all, we have writers block today.
Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck turned into Mom’s Grilled Cheese Kitchen the other night, as she stopped by her big brothers house with Mini-Mom to visit and hang out with her niece and nephew. Mom just happened to bring along some supplies from the truck and her 12 year old nephew Jackson decided he wanted to build his own grilled cheese creation. He named it, The Jackson 5. Why? Because it felt like it weighed 5 pounds. It turned out to be a massive triple-decker. The first layer was thick with cheddar and bacon, topped with a golden slice of sour dough. On top of that, a mound of Mom’s homemade chili….topped with another golden slice of sour dough. This was a triple decker-cheddar-bacon-chili-sour-dough-grilled cheese-monster! And yes, he ate it all!!! Growing boys need their food. Get yourself down to Mom’s today and for an extra $1.50 you can add chili to your grilled cheese delight. You’ll need extra napkins.
