Yes, a year free grilled cheese if you win the big contest tomorrow! Be sure to visit Mom’s to sign up for a chance to enter. It’s at 12:00 noon this Friday the 9th at our normal location, don’t be late….you snooooze, you looooooze…..you know who I’m talking about “Someone get me a bucket”
Hmmmmmm, such a hard decision to make. Will it be the original at the corner of Howe Street & Robson Street, on the Vancouver Art Gallery corner by the Robson Square skating rink? Or, will it be our second location, right by 884 West Cordova Street, located right by the cross walk on the North side. See you for lunch soon!
Whats’s Mom’s secret recipe that keeps them coming back? She’ll tell you it’s cheese, family and love. It was a big cheesy family love-in on Saturday on the grilled cheese truck, as Mom was joined by her niece, and daughter. It was a family affair and one of the busiest days of the year. Great weather, warm temps and melted cheese………what else can you ask for on the weekend! Happy Sunday, come down for lunch today, we’ll be here as usual starting at 11:30.
Vancitybuzz.com had a great post a while ago asking who has the best grilled cheese in Vancouver, and we wanted to share it with you. So, directly from the book of plagiarism, here is some fun stuff about Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck and Taser’s (who we love)….but it really isn’t plagiarism because we are crediting Vancitybuzz.com, using “quotation marks” like Austin Powers does and linking directly to the article and their landing page, right…….
“The ultimate icons of cheesy goodness can be prepared for both the simplest palette or the most adventurous sandwich connoisseur and while most everyone knows how to make their own grilled cheese sandwich, not everyone carries around a sandwich press. Luckily, Vancouver has two GC specific food carts so it’s possible to have your favourite lunchtime sandwich even when you aren’t in your kitchen. Let’s take a closer look at Mom’s and Taser’s, Vancouver’s dynamic grilled cheese duo. Read more here
We were on blogging vacation, but we’re back!! OK, some quick housekeeping items: Mom’s is now open 7 days a week, look for us at our usual spot located on the corner of Robson & Howe by the Vancouver Art Gallery. We are also open in the evenings too, from 6 through 9PM. Get yourself down here for a warm spring-day lunch visit today, see you soon!
If you have kids, you’ve likely discovered that 99.9% of kids love cheese. The rare kid won’t or might have a dairy allergy, but for the most part…..cheese rocks a kids world! We’ve had a lot of kids stop by Mom’s for their grilled cheese fix, be sure to stop by with your kids soon. If you can’t visit with your rug rats, we have a cheesy suggestion your kids just may like. Instead of Kraft dinner, try a great kids pasta called Annie’s Shells & White Cheddar (they have a number of other great selections too). Annie’s has been using organic ingredients since the very beginning back in 1998. As they say, “if it’s not real, it’s not Annie’s”. That’s why they support organic food practices and honest labeling. Next time you are at the grocery store, take a moment to compare what is on a Kraft Dinner ingredients label compared to an Annie’s ingredient label. Real cheese tastes better, and kids will notice the difference. Trust us, Mom’s knows cheese! Hey, we could raise a whole new generation of kids that ends up in college and university living on Annie’s instead of KD.
The cheese is melting like nobody’s business! Non stop, every day, line ups and running out of stock….all good problems, I’m not complaining. We got to thinking how prominent cheese is in our lives. It’s everywhere, we can’t escape it. For example; Cheese-head, a cheesy comment, cheese please, cut the cheese, cheesecake, cheesecake factory, the big cheese, cheese omelette, say cheese, burger & cheese, chalk and cheese, the cheese stands alone and what might be the most famous cheese reference of all time…… Macaroni & Cheese (aka in Canada Kraft Dinner). Long live the cheese!
