Great lunch crowd today and the weather sure helped too! As soon as we lifted up our doors, the good folks at Vancouver Foodie Tours stopped by with a group including visitors from San Francisco, Austria and the UK. We snuck a picture of them. This great little company offers the world’s best food truck tour, easily one of the most mind-blowing lunch experiences you’ll ever have….and it includes a stop at Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck (applause)! Enjoy amazing Vancouver street food characterized by local, organic, good-for-you-decadence and learn about the making of Vancouver’s popular food truck landscape. Be introduced to the culinary talents behind the scenes, learn to appreciate street food in a new light, and be inspired to continue exploring Vancouver’s fascinating culinary tourism scene long after the adventure ends.
To quote the enormous Mr. Creosote from the classic Monty Python movie The Meaning Of Life, “better bring me a bucket”. We’ll see if our contestants can hold it down on Friday October 4, 2013 at our normal location, each participant will be given 13 grilled cheese sandwiches. Who will prevail? Who will puke? Who will need Pepto Bismo? Come find out on Friday!
The patriarch of the family stopped by Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck today for a visit and to make sure the family recipes are still intact. Mom’s 90 year old Grandmother (Helen) from Toronto is in town visiting her Grand-kids and Great Grand-kids! The “Big G” as she is affectionately called walks almost every day, works out at her gym in Toronto a few times a week and no doubt….she’ll be checking this post out on her iPad. The secret to a long health life……grilled cheese!!
Back to school today!!! Lots of happy parents Thanks to the cutest couple ever for stopping by, you win the award, for being the cutest couple ever. Thanks Quinn and Bailey! We love you guys!!! See you for lunch. The picture quality is off sorry, it’s an iPhone. If we had a new BlackBerry I’m sure the picture would be much better
It’s Meatloaf Monday!! The weather forecast looks great all week, so get down to Mom’s and enjoy a hearty slice of homemade meatloaf surrounded by melted mozzarella and marinara sauce on crusty French bread.
No joking, this meatloaf really is homemade by Mom herself, every Sunday to be ready for the big Monday extravaganza!! It’s an old family secret, with just the right amount of spice and cooked just right. Don’t bother asking what the recipe is, Mom will never tell you but here is a hint…….she’ll let the secret slide if you offer her red wine.
It’s Friday, you made it!!! The work week is almost over, time for a some grilled cheese lunch today at Mom’s. Believe it or not, there is a rock band called Grilled Cheese. You can catch them “rocking out” to Foxy Lady, originally by Jimi Hendrix. Keep your day job boys! Happy weekend!
Weekends are rockin now as Mom’s is at our usual spot Saturdays and Sundays. Our new summer menu features the Saturday special the Hammy Sr. and the Sunday special, the Lionel Richie, easy like Sunday morning baby! Also in just two days on June 6th, it’s Mom’s birthday!!!!!!
In case you missed it, this past weekend was 420 Vancouver. Mom’s grilled Cheese Truck was there and let me tell you……there were some serious munchies going on! LOL. We sold out of almost everything on the tuck. It was an epic day. Makes you wonder about legalization, but that’s another topic. If you didn’t know, 420 is the world recognized international day of celebration for the planet’s estimated 250,000,000 members of the cannabis culture. There was live music by Kitty In The City, The Ponderosas and many more. An estimated 35,000 people turned out for the event, and about 20,000 of them chowed down grilled cheese! Pretty impressive event. If you are curious, feel free to reach out to Event Coordinator Jodie Emery at firstname.lastname@example.org. Dude, where’s my car?
