Mmmmmeatloaf!

Yes, it is Meatloaf Monday, a hearty slice of homemade meatloaf surrounded by melted mozzarella and marinara sauce on crusty French bread. This is probably Mom’s most famous grilled cheese and offers the best filler for your lunch time hunger on a cold and wet Monday. Business and school is back to normal today, so we look forward to seeing you for a nice warm lunch, some comfort food like Mom used to make..

Hot Comfort Food On A Cold Day

Happy New Year! What a great day it is out there today, sunny, the snow capped mountains on the North Shore and Mom’s grilled Cheese Truck back on the streets for the first day of 2013. It’s a frosty morning and it will be a cold day today, so it is the perfect day to get yourself down to Mom’s for a hot grilled cheese sandwich, or maybe  Mom’s now famous Roasted Tomato Soup topped with basil mascarpone…….or a piping hot large cup of Mom’s homemade chili topped with cheddar! Mmmmmmm, hot comfort foods on a cold January day, sounds like the ideal way to start your 2013 off perfectly. See you today for lunch.

Holiday Grilled Cheese

If you have some extra left over food from the big holiday meal, you’ve likely just realized two things. One, using the term “holiday” is our effort to be politically correct, your left over’s may be from Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah or even Festivus (see video below). Two, you now see you have the ingredients for an epic grilled cheese sandwich!

Here is what we did at home on Boxing Day to create a one of a kind grilled cheese delight:

-Diced turkey (light and dark)
-Bacon
-Tomato
-Cheddar
-Havarti
-Spread cranberry on one slice of sourdough
-Drizzle balsamic vinegar on the other slice of sourdough
-Butter both sides of the outside of the sourdough
-Grill it nice and slow
It was a truly incredible holiday grilled cheese sandwich!

Ay-Caramba! He Ate It All!

Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck turned into Mom’s Grilled Cheese Kitchen the other night, as she stopped by her big brothers house with Mini-Mom to visit and hang out with her niece and nephew. Mom just happened to bring along some supplies from the truck and her 12 year old nephew Jackson decided he wanted to build his own grilled cheese creation. He named it, The Jackson 5. Why? Because it felt like it weighed 5 pounds. It turned out to be a massive triple-decker. The first layer was thick with cheddar and bacon, topped with a golden slice of sour dough. On top of that, a mound of Mom’s homemade chili….topped with another golden slice of sour dough. This was a triple decker-cheddar-bacon-chili-sour-dough-grilled cheese-monster! And yes, he ate it all!!! Growing boys need their food. Get yourself down to Mom’s today and for an extra $1.50 you can add chili to your grilled cheese delight. You’ll need extra napkins.

Legen-dary Wingman!

As Mom’s official blogger, there are some fringe benefits…..like free grilled cheese! Last Friday I had the chance to finally try Mom’s new Wingman Grilled Cheese. Let me tell you, it was epic. In fact, I might even say legen-dary!

It was a warm, cheesy gooey, chicken wing delight and make sure you grab an extra couple napkins for this baby. There were a few other folks trying the Wingman out and it seemed like a big thumbs up from all.
