Big thank you to everyone who stopped by the Vancouver Art Gallery yesterday for Street Food City, the opportunity to sample some of Vancouver’s finest food carts all in one convenient location. The weather was good, the food was better and we were rockin’ all day! There were 20 + trucks out and we get to do it all again today at our regular location because it’s Meat Loaf Monday! Ah Yes, Meat Loaf Monday A hearty slice of home made meatloaf surrounded by melted mozzarella and marinara sauce on crusty French bread. Mmmmmmmmmmm.
We are open Saturday & Sunday, and there is nothing but sun shine forecast. Gotta love the West coast winter, bring your sun screen and appetite. Although it is hard to actually bring your appetite, as it exists in all higher life-forms, and serves to regulate adequate energy intake to maintain metabolic needs. It is regulated by a close interplay between the digestive tract, adipose tissue and the brain. Just sayin.
Nothing but sunshine today!! It’s the perfect day for an urban picnic, just like Calvin and Dan when they stopped by Mom’s earlier this week. Thanks guys, and the forecast this weekend offers nothing but sunshine as well. We are open Saturday and Sunday, so get yourself down here, and soak up some sun sunshine and grilled cheese! Happy Friday, you made it

Well how cool is this, Jamie Oliver Magazine has mentioned Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck in the most recent UK edition of his Jamie Magazine and also included a nice picture. Yo, thanks Jamie! Sorry about the picture of the picture, it’s all we had
For those of you who are old enough to remember, Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck is serving as part of our drink menu…..pop from The Pop Shoppe! Ya! Growing up, The Pop Shoppe was it! This was the great pop experience as a kid. Once a week, we would go to The Pop Shoppe and pick our own pop flavours for the week. We’d bring it home in that red plastic carry case, and return the empties in it as well. Great flavour like Cola, Cream Soda, Root Beer, Grape, Orange and Black Cherry. Ya gotta love the stubby style bottle too, classic stuff. In creating Mom’s unique menu from both the food and beverage perspective, we wanted to be unique and offer a different experience to our customers. Where in downtown Vancouver can you go for a gourmet grilled cheese lunch and kick it old school with your favourite Pop Shoppe drink? Nowhere, except mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck! The Pop Shoppe was a soft drink retailer originating in 1969 in London, Ontario, Mom’s home town. They sold pop through franchised outlets and its own stores in refillable bottles in red 24-cartons. Within three years, the company grew within the province to over 500 stores, and entered the United States in the following three years. Eventually, Pop Shoppe was selling 30 different flavours of pop throughout Canada and 12 American states. National Hockey League veteran Eddie Shack was the predominant spokesman for the brand. In the early 1980s sales slowed, largely blamed on competition from private label grocery store soft drink brands. The original company ceased operations in 1983 and its trademarks expired in 1993. It was re-established in 2004.
